Privacy Policy

Faraway (“we”, “us”, “our”) builds ambient soundscape mixing tools. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and your choices.

What we collect

When you use Faraway, we collect only what’s needed to make the app work:

• Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email address and a unique user identifier from the provider.
• App content. Your saved soundscape mixes (title, description, layer volumes, mood tag).
• Onboarding preferences. The mood you select during onboarding (e.g., sleep, focus, relax).
• Purchase information. Your subscription status and purchase history, managed via RevenueCat and the Apple App Store.

We do not collect: analytics events, crash reports, device advertising identifiers, location, contacts, browsing data, or any behavioral tracking data.

How we use your data

• To authenticate you and maintain your session.
• To store and retrieve your saved soundscapes across devices.
• To personalize soundscape recommendations based on your selected mood.
• To process and verify your subscription purchases.

Third-party services

Faraway uses the following services as data processors:

• Supabase — database and authentication. Stores account data and saved mixes.
• RevenueCat — subscription management. Handles purchase verification and entitlements.
• Apple — App Store, Sign in with Apple, In-App Purchases.
• Google — Sign in with Google.
• Anthropic — AI. When you use the AI mix generator, we send your text prompt to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate a soundscape. Prompts are used only for generating the response and are not stored by us beyond that request.

We do not share or sell your personal data to advertisers or data brokers. We do not use your data for tracking across other apps or websites.

Microphone and speech

If you use the voice-based onboarding feature, your device’s microphone is used to capture your mood description. Speech recognition is performed on-device where available. The resulting text is used only to generate your initial soundscape and is not stored.

Your rights and choices

• Delete your account. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deletion is permanent.
• Access your data. Email us at contact@getfaraway.app and we will send a copy of your account data within 30 days.
• Cancel your subscription. You can cancel anytime from your Apple ID subscription settings.

Children’s privacy

Faraway is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, email contact@getfaraway.app and we will delete it.

Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your data is removed from our primary database within 30 days.

Security

We use industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit and access controls, to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; you use Faraway at your own risk.

International users

Faraway is operated from the United States. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your data to the U.S. for processing and storage.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email. Continued use of Faraway after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
